HearStory – Denver Union Station

HearStory - Denver Union Station . 6:06

This station—and Denver itself—might not be here without the Chinese laborers who built the tracks to the transcontinental railroad. When the tracks were complete, their foreman, Chin Lin Sou, worked in the silver mines of Black Hawk where he and his wife welcomed Lily Chin, the first Chinese person born in Colorado. He had a chair at the Central City Opera House right next to Buffalo Bill Cody, and later his granddaughter went on to run one of Denver’s most celebrated restaurants. Press play to hear the story of one of the many families that helped weave the tapestry of the Mile High City.

Hearstory exists so history isn't told about communities—but by them. Stand where it happened and hear it from those who lived it and those who carry it forward.
